Day 13: Make Healthy Snacks At Home

Day 13 is all about the yum factor!  The Small Changes, BIG Impact Challenge for today is simply to make something healthy for yourself at home.  Skip the never-ending ingredient label of frakensnacks and go for a yummy punch of homemade nutrition.  You will also be skipping the packaging that comes with all the snack packs.  I am happily sharing some of our favorites, but please comment with your favorites!  I am all about yummy food!

You must grab this book from your local library or get it from Amazon!  A few of our favorites from Everyday Detox (by Marie Gilmore) are:

  • Peppermint Fudge Bars
  • Double Chocolate Brownies
  • No Bake Chocolate Macaroons
  • No Bake Coconut Granola Bars
  • Seasoned Sweet Potato Fries

Most of those recipes have unsweetened coconut, raw cacao powder, maple syrup, coconut oil, and coconut flour.  I was able to easily whip these up in less than 45 minutes.  I used a lot of the same kitchen equipment, and since 3 out of the 5 are no bake, it was super easy to finish up, clean up, and eat up.  Enjoy!

Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Larabars

These bars are so good!!!  They are easy to make and take.  They are peanut free, so throw them in a lunch.  You can eat them for breakfast, lunch, snack, or a quick dessert.

P.S.  Here are some more recipes on Marie Gilmore’s Detoxinista blog!  I plan to make these, these, these, and this.

What do you make to snack on at home?  Which recipe will you try?  Enjoy!  See you tomorrow!
